Tobias C Garritt CEO & Founder, Emerald Planet Biofuels
Tobias is an established resident of Indonesia since 2001 and has been involved in company management in Australia,
Canada and the United Kingdom prior to his move to the archipelago. On moving to Indonesia, Tobias established the
Indonesian operations of one of the regions preeminent Destination Management Companies, and supported its growth in
7 countries including expansion into China, through spearheading sales and marketing efforts in the USA and South
Africa, contributing to the company's US$20+ million annual turnover.
His focus on sustainable development comes from a strong connection with the environment which has been keenly expressed
through his development of several other tourism ventures in Indonesia. As Executive Advisor of one of Bali's leading
tourism operations, Tobias has played a central role in developing the 300 employee strong company, expanding markets
and coordinating the introduction, care and management of 9 Sumatran elephants as part of a showcase for sustainable tourism.
Drawn to Indonesia by its natural beauty and rich culture, Tobias has travelled widely across the country and is fluent
in local languages. With an extensive political network and strong family connections, his ability to create value for
all stakeholders is integral to the success of Emerald Planet Biofuels' overriding philosophy. His unique drive and
aptitude in understanding the broader applications and practical implementation of emerging and environmental technologies
makes him an asset in translating sustainable development into working business models.
As CEO of EPB, Tobias has coordinated the development of EPB's pioneering Energy Plantation model and establishment of
the company's offices and Biofuel Nursery in Indonesia while working extensively with private sector and Indonesian
government to lay the foundation for large scale implementation of Emerald Planet Biofuels' Energy Plantations. Tobias
is a founder of Emerald Planet Biofuels and Emerald Planet Indonesia, and a Director of Emerald Planet Limited.
