Emerald Planet Biofuels is in the process of researching a comprehensive, staged program of environmental stewardship, educational programs and regional scholarships, aimed to be launched in the second half of 2008.

The following areas are currently being developed as focus points:

  • Sponsorship, protection and management of natural forests, including potential development of carbon assets to support ongoing forest management
  • Regional development of forest and water resource education centres and/or specific educational units working in conjunction with government to educate and empower local communities
  • Sponsorship, protection and management of native and protected animal species, including breeding programs, relocation, corporate/individual sponsorship and the creation of regional education centres
  • A series of regional and national scholarships at different levels to promote the further education of bright minds and spirits dedicated to the future of Indonesia's forests, native species and water resources

Community development and conservation are two key areas EPB plans to develop in and around the project areas. Furthermore, both areas are vital in establishing and maintaining a model of true long term sustainability where the interests of all stakeholders and the environment are integrated into the commercial business model.

Emerald Planet Biofuels recognises the work of many excellent Foundations and NGO's in these areas and will endeavour to create lasting partnerships. Sponsorship opportunities for corporate partners will be available on a first come first served basis, although some programs may be developed jointly.
