Emerald Planet Biofuels Pte Limited (Singapore) specialises in the development and management of
Jatropha Energy Plantations (JEP) in South East Asia, Crude Jatropha Oil (CJO) and carbon trading in regional and European
markets, and the development of renewable energy utilising plantation biomass. EPB’s business model is supported by a
commitment to research and development, community participation and establishing environmental sustainability and best
practises in plantation management.
EPB's Energy Plantation model utilises the Jatropha tree, which produces high quantities
of oil bearing seeds, which are then crushed to produce Crude Jatropha Oil (CJO). CJO is recognized as an ideal feedstock
for biodiesel, and can be used directly in diesel engines and for power generation. CJO will be sold within Indonesia as a
fossil fuel substitute, or exported internationally as a feedstock for biodiesel or energy production.
The company currently has offices in Bali, Kalimantan and Jakarta, with plantations planned
on (deforested) land in Kalimantan and Papua, Indonesia. As Indonesia is a signatory of the Kyoto Protocol, EPB's projects
stand to benefit from carbon credits under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). Indonesia is the single largest economy in
South East Asia and with consistent economic growth, stable government and large areas of land suitable for Jatropha, EPB
sees Indonesia as a the key starting point for the implementation of its Energy Plantation models in SEA.
